Family Tree privacy policy

This policy explains how the Family Tree app ("the app") by Alvisca Technology handles your information. In short: no ads, no tracking, and your family tree is shared only with people you invite.

Information we collect

Account information

You sign in with Google or with an email and password (Firebase Authentication). We store your email address and an account ID, and your Google name and profile picture if you use Google sign-in.

Family information you add

Names, gender, generations, relationships, dates (birth, marriage), notes and photos about you and your relatives. Please only add information about other people that you have the right to share.

Text sent for typing help

When sound typing is on (for example typing English letters to get Tamil), the word you are typing is sent to Google Input Tools to suggest the right spelling. When you press Translate, that text is sent to the MyMemory translation service. Only that text is sent — never your family tree. You can turn sound typing off in the app.

How we use your information

• To save and display your family tree.
• To let you sign in and share your tree with relatives you invite (as Viewer or Editor).
• To keep the app secure and fix problems.

The app shows no ads and has no analytics or tracking. We do not sell your information.

Where your data is stored

Your tree is always saved on your device. It is stored in the cloud (Google Firebase Cloud Firestore, operated by Google) only when you create or join a cloud tree. Data is encrypted in transit, and security rules let only members of a tree read it and only its owner and editors change it.

Sharing

Your tree is private unless you invite someone with a code. We share data only with service providers needed to run the app (Google Firebase, Google Input Tools, MyMemory) or when required by law.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your cloud data while your account is active. To delete it:

• In the app (instant): tap the cloud button in the top bar, then Delete account. Cloud trees you created (people, photos and invite codes) are deleted, you are removed from trees shared with you, and your sign-in account is deleted.
• On the web: use our account deletion page. We complete deletion within 30 days.

The copy saved on your own phone stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app.

Children

The app is for adults recording their family history and is not directed at children. Account holders must be 13 or older. Family trees may include children, added by a parent or relative.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
